News Update | The 2017 Chinese Medicinal Chemistry Symposium Held in Beijing to Advance Global New Drug Research and Development
Beijing, August 27th to 30th, the 2017 Chinese Medicinal Chemistry Symposium (CMCS), organized by Chinese Pharmaceutical Association and co-organized by School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Tsinghua University, was held at Beijing National Conference Center in Beijing. The Symposium is the most prominent scientific event in the field of medicinal chemistry in China, aiming to provide a high-level platform for academia and industry to discuss and exchange the frontier development of pharmaceutical chemistry and related fields.

Themed "Delicated to global new drug research and development - Focusing on New Molecules, Technologies and Therapies", this year, CMCS featured one plenary session and nine concurrent sessions, covering new frontiers and hot topics in medicinal chemistry, including “new drug research frontiers for important diseases”, “new theories and methods of drug molecular design”, “advances in cell therapy (including immune, stem cells, etc.)”, “new methods and technologies in medicinal materials and drug synthesis”, “chemical biology and related fields”, “research advances in natural drug and traditional Chinese medicine”, and “transformation of pharmaceutical industry promoted by new drug R&D”.

Unprecedented in scale, CMCS attracted over 1700 attendees from universities, research institutes, hospitals and pharmaceutical R&D companies in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions; also including the representatives from European Union, the United States, Japan and other countries in the field of medicinal chemistry. The Symposium hosted 179 presentations in total, including 12 keynote sessions, 71 concurrent reports, and 96 oral presentations. Meanwhile, 135 selected papers were exhibited at the poster exhibition session.

SUN Xianze, Deputy Director of China Food and Drug Administration and Chairman of Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, Academician XUE Qikun, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Academician CHEN Kaixian, Chairman of CMCS, and Academician ZHANG Lihe, Chairman of CMCS Academic Committee, attended the Symposium with opening speeches.
